Frequently Asked Questions / FAQ
It all depends on how deeply we can research the family tree, how and where the documents are stored. Therefore, it is quite difficult to immediately name the exact price of the research. However, on average, researching the family tree of a typical Ukrainian family from the second half - the end of the 18th century and before the beginning of World War II costs 700-800 dollars. per family line.
On average, work on a family tree research project at our agency lasts from three to five months. During the research, we periodically inform the client about the progress of the work.
These are several consecutive stages:
- First, we receive initial data about the family from you (enough information about the dates and places of birth of grandparents). Based on this data, we analyze the state of the preserved source database and make you an offer on the cost, timing, and potential of future research.
- If you are satisfied with our conditions, we will sign a contract.
- After that, you make an advance payment (approximately 30% from the research budget).
- We are conducting research.
- We are providing the results of the study for your review.
- We carry out the remaining calculations.
By family line or branch we mean genealogy along the family of the father, mother, or one of the grandmothers. Simply put, we conduct research on the bearers of the same surname (this is approximately, because the surname could change). For example, if it is the father's family, we collect information about his father, grandfather, great-grandfather, etc., as well as their brothers and sisters, that is, all those who were bearers of this surname in the family. As a rule, we order research on two branches - along the father's line and along the mother's line.
We generate the results of genealogical research in the form of an analytical report - a family history, where we tell who the ancestors were, what they did, show the change of generations in the context of the historical changes that occurred in the region of the family's residence. The package of materials also includes a genealogical chart that includes all found representatives of the family, as well as copies of documents that confirm the information found.
By the number of requests to our agency, this service is the most popular, although it is not particularly interesting and a priority for our searches. Based on our experience, only in 1-2 cases out of 10 is it possible to confirm Polish, Jewish or some other nationality. Due to the specificity of pre-war documents, a column in which nationality would be clearly indicated is rare. Also, ideas about the nationality of grandfathers or grandmothers are too often based on conjectures and family legends that are not confirmed in documents.
